Trip to Knoxville

We haven't been back to Knoxville to see Curt's fam in a while so Saturday when I got off of work we headed that way and got in around midnight.  We knew it would be a quick trip but it was so worth it!  We haven't seen Amanda and Clay and the kids since June so it was great seeing them!  It was obviously great seeing Debbie, Mike, and Betty too but we had just seen them on our trip to Springfield :).  And of course we had a big family dinner to celebrate everybody being together!

Sunday morning we woke up and went to church, went to eat at Aubrey's for lunch (Curt's favorite!!), and then I took a nap before Amanda and Clay and the kids came over. That nap was definitely needed because those kids were rambunctious but that's the only way we would want them to be!! :)

We then ate a delicious steak dinner and enjoyed peach cobbler out by the pool while Andrew swam.  Yes he was cold but he was not about to admit it, ha!

Unfortunately then we packed our bags and everybody headed home.  Hopefully we will get to do it again soon!  It was a wonderful Sunday!

Me, Mollie, Andrew, and Amanda in the playhouse that Mike built.  I wish I would have taken more pics of it because it is awesome.  This would have been my dream growing up.

Clay and Mike grilling :)

Andrew and me :)
Andrew's favorite thing to do with my phone....swap faces!  CREEPY!!! haha! Actually I think I look pretty cute as Andrew :)

Andrew started karate.  He was teaching me moves!

And Mollie loves ballet :) this is her staccato spin move :)

We had a small photo shoot

Attempting silly faces

I guess Andrew left Mollie out of that one, haha

New Car!!

The only car I have ever owned is my Hyundai Santa Fe.  My parents gave it to me when I was 16 and I have faithfully driven it ever since!  I did love the bat mobile :) However, that car had 140,000 miles on it and was finally starting to have some issues!!!  We went to see about fixing it and when they told us how much is was going to cost we decided it was time to get a new car!

We decided on a 2013 white Jetta that uses diesel!  Now I just have to make sure and NEVER put unleaded gas in it!  I'm going to have to use a sticky note to remind me! ha! :)  It is suppose to get really good gas mileage so now those trips to home will cost way less! Yahoo!!!

We would have taken more pictures but it started raining :(

Canoe Trip

Yesterday I went on my first ever outing with work/nursing friends!  We went canoeing!  I have never really been canoeing so I wasn't sure what to expect.  But it turned out to be so much fun!  I picked up another Lindsay from work and we headed out to Lynda's.  She lives about 40 minutes out of town and near a river.  Once we got there we hung out for a while and Lynda had made brunch!  The food was delicious.  We had breakfast casserole, homemade banana bread, muffins, and fruit! Yummmm!!!  We then headed to Foggy Bottom to rent our canoe for the 2 hour trip.

Once we finally got in our canoe, the sun started blaring and I was thinking it is pretty darn hot.  Then the sun went behind the clouds and it was super nice.  Then the clouds turned really gray and I was thinking uh oh.  Then the storm blew in.  The rain came.  And down poured. For literally 45 minutes. We hurried to try to finish canoeing. AHHHHH.  But we had a wonderful time and were cracking up at the memories we were making! Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of us after the rain but WE WERE SOAKED!

We went back to Lynda's house afterward and changed into dry clothes and hung out for a while to avoid traffic.  We then loaded up and headed home.  It was a great day!

Can't wait for next outing with these ladies!

Getting ready!  Lindsay and I thought for sure we would need to wear these when the rapids came!
The group-minus one!  Dawn, myself, Lindsay, and Lynda
Turns out we didn't need the life jacket.  But it was so peaceful out there ;)

And then some random dog came into our canoe because we hit rock and had to get out and push! hhaha!

NFL FOOTBALL

So before NFL season started Curt and I had to decide who we were really going to cheer for this year. We both love Peyton Manning so we have to cheer for the Broncos. I am from Missouri so I have always been a Rams fan but then they stunk it up for a while and I stopped watching. BUT some of our best friends in Nashville are huge Rams fans so we decided we are going to be hardcore Rams fans too!  And lastly, since we are living in Nashville we decided we will sometimes cheer for the Titans.  With that being said we watched Thursday's game where Peyton had his best game of all time! Yahoo! And yesterday after church we went over to Grant and Emily's to watch the Rams game.  Em even game me a shirt to borrow so I could start the season off right :) Guess I need to invest in a couple of shirts now, ha!

This past Sunday was a great day!  We went to church, napped, watched the Rams play (and the won!!!!), took Grant and Em to Humdingers (we had to thank them somehow for letting us stay with them for a week when our apartment flooded!), and watched Breaking Bad!  O--and we played some video game--o course I was terrible.

Thanks Grant and Em for letting us come over and spend the entire day with you!  We had so much fun! I am sure we will do it again soon!

Curt napped on the couch for a while and then napped halfway on the couch and then ended like this for a while--
poor curt :(

Celebrating

And more celebrating!

And more celebrating! And Curt woke up--yay!

Sportin' my gear :)

The Rest of Labor Day Weekend

Sunday we got up went to church, visited my grandma in the hospital in Perryville (she has pneumonia but is doing much better now), and came home and relaxed. It was much needed!!  Sunday afternoon/night Whit, Ryan, and Brynn came over to hang out and eat. It was so much fun.  Of course us "adult kids" had some extra fun playing with beanie babies :).  After we ate we took a walk on the bike trail and got Andy's custard!  This is Curt's favorite and we haven't had it a looonnnnngggg time!  He was thrilled.  See his ice cream below and you will understand his excitement...it was huge :).

On actual Labor Day, my grandparents, and Kelly and Jared and their kids came over for lunch!  Before all of that though, we made my mother soooo happy and went on a bike ride that morning.  I forget how painful it is afterwards when you haven't been on a bike in a while, but we managed.  It was great seeing family that I haven't seen in a while!  We ate, talked, ate some more, played cards and hung out!  It was perfect!  After Brynn woke up from her nap, we ran a few errands.  (I got the supplies that I needed to make another head board...DIY post on that soon!).

It was a fabulous weekend of relaxing and hanging out with family and friends.  I hope we get to do it again soon!

Our favorite--airplane.

Brynn loves playing with our old Beanie Babies.  Of course we had to get in on the action too and turn it into a game! ha!  I think Curt and Whit were the overall winners.  This was serious competition.

Custard at Andy's!! Deliciousness!!!

My mom asked if we needed sunglasses for our bike ride--she had a bag full of old sunglasses---how old are these seriously???...hahaha

These are the glasses we choose :)

The girls' and kids' lunch table

The boys, I don't think they really wanted their picture taken

Running errands--she is going to be a shopper!  She kept picking out EVERYTHING saying it was so pretty and that she needed it! haha!

Dad's Surprise 60th

Curt and I were headed to Cape for Labor Day Weekend for two reasons.  The first was for Monica's bridal shower.  The second was for Dad's surprise 60th.  His actual birthday isn't until September 19th so he was totally shocked!! hahahahahah!  It was great!  The party was scheduled to start around 5-5:30ish.  My parents went to a wedding reception at 3:15 so Whit, Ryan, Curt, myself, and my grandparents (thank goodness they were there!) had less than 2 hours to get everything done!  I was sweating profusely by the time guests started arriving... gross.

But getting past the sweat and nasty feeling...the party was great!  At the time, I thought my dad might be upset because he was adamant about not wanting a surprise party but overall he loved it!

As the party was winding down Brynn decided she wanted to paint nails.  It was fun and I love me some Brynn but I was starting to get that nervous hectic feeling about things spilling and the messes that were being made.  Once again, that solidified my feelings about not getting pregnant right now, ha!

After everybody left Brynn had a couple gifts to open from my super sweet mother-in-law and grandmother-in-law.  They wanted to get her a couple gifts to open since Emory will be born soon.  And let me tell you she was in heaven!!!!

It was a great Saturday night!  Once everybody left I think I might have fallen asleep instantly again...that seems to happen a lot..

Happy early birthday Dad :)

I didn't get very good pics of his surprise face, but I think he was more in shock :)

My mom was loving it!

He still loves me :)

She was celebrating in style!

This is that nervous/hectic feeling!! ahaha!

She loved it!

I have seen that sticker book numerous times since then

And she loved the nail polish in the purse Debbie!  This is her thank you face :)

Some reading before bedtime, love me some Brynn

Bridal Shower!

I worked Friday, got off at 7, rushed home to take a quick shower, and Curt and I loaded up the car and headed to Cape.  We got in around midnight and immediately went to sleep because we were zonked.  Well lets be serious, I had already slept in the car a little  :).  We got up Saturday morning and got ready for the bridal shower.

The bridal shower was for one of my best friends, Monica.  She is marrying Travis (a friend of Curt's) in December.  I am a bridesmaid and Curt is a groomsmen.  Side story:  I played matchmaker and set them up and it ACTUALLY WORKED!!  Curt said that is a one time only thing and I have to quit trying to play matchmaker with our other friends, haa!

The shower was a bridal brunch.  The home the shower was held in was beautiful and the food was delicious!  She got some really great stuff--a lot of kitchen stuff!!  She is going to become one really great baker!  It was great to see Monica and catch up!  We realized we hadn't seen each other since March!! It had been way to long!!

Monica and some of the bridesmaids and friends

O. My. Goodness.  This is a serious attempt of my mother trying to take a picture. Enough said.
